Our contribution to the redefinition of the kilogram
For the international Avogadro project, Häfner supplied the highly sensitive handling, storage and cleaning technology for near-perfect spheres made of high-purity silicon — the roundest objects in the world.
With them, the kilogram was converted in 2019 from the last physical prototype kilogram to a constant of nature. Since then, the unit of mass has been stable, traceable and comparable worldwide — the basis of every precise weighing.
